Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing the function of the accounts receivable role and supporting additional accounting activities as needed, including accounts payable, purchasing, and general accounting.


Essential Functions

  • Provide updates to customers / vendors regarding their account status
  • Address delinquent customer accounts via email, USPS mail, and telephone
  • Provide outstanding customer service regarding account and billing inquiries
  • Update and enter customer / vendor account information in ERP (MS Dynamics)
  • Process customer applications for credit payment terms; conduct reference checks of customers via email and fax
  • Coordinate and conduct direct collection efforts; document accordingly
  • Process/apply customer payments and credits
  • Prepare and process vendor A/P payment runs
  • Research and solve payment discrepancies; adjust accounts as needed
  • Reduce delinquency and maintain current aging for all accounts
  • Review and reconcile GL accounts; prepare reporting of accounts receivable / accounts payable
  • Administer and assist with customer / vendor contracts
  • Invoice customers according to payment terms
  • Assist Accounts Payable in processing vendor invoicing
  • Assist with other accounting duties and special projects.

Work Environment

This job is performed in an office environment


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full Time. Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required



Occasional travel between locations


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Associate Degree in related field is preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of accounting experience
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Microsoft Dynamics SL or experience with an Organizational ERP system
  • Must be able to prioritize schedules
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and collaborate as part of a team
