Summary/Objective

The Maintenance Technician performs daily inspections and preventative maintenance to equipment and facilities. This position is also responsible for answering emergency calls to equipment, including troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems, identifying root cause of problems and repairing them. The role requires documentation of daily activities, and providing support for equipment modifications related to safety, new installations or equipment improvements.

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions
  • Use hand tools, levels, etc. to adjust functional parts of devices
  • Consistently follow quality guidelines
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production hours; perform scheduled maintenance equipment repairs during production and non-production times
  • Establish course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
  • Coordinate input from internal/external customers to better understand needs
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Diagnose problems; replace or repair parts; test and make adjustments
  • Multi-task / Execute Tasks in JIT (Just-In-Time) Environment

Work Environment

This job is performed in a busy warehouse environment with high forklift traffic. Warehouses are subject to seasonal temperatures.  Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses and vests are required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee occasionally sits on a powered forklift and is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The associate may occasionally be required to lift 51 pounds, anything greater than 51 pounds requires assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate
  • 2 years of technical school or equivalent training

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Mig and stick welding and fabrication experience
  • Electrical skills, including 3 Phase Electricity
  • Plumbing maintenance and carpentry experience
  • Lock out/Tag out procedure knowledge

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full Time.  Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required.

Travel

No travel is required between locations.
